Chako's mission is to increase economic opportunities in Zanzibar by helping artisanal producers in Zanzibar expand their product range, build networks and connect to wider markets.

Initially, Chako worked according to the "Tourist2Tourist" concept, which means that they make souvenirs for tourists from the waste they directly produce. This offers tourists a way to reduce their negative impact on the island with a positive approach; by buying original, innovative souvenirs for friends and family.
