About Sabahar
Sabahar is an Ethiopian company specializing in hand-woven textiles and honoring Ethiopia's rich weaving traditions.
The company was founded in 2004 by Kathy Marshall and began as a small-scale initiative to support local artisans. It has since grown into a fair-trade enterprise committed to sustainability and craftsmanship.
Sabahar employs approximately 100 permanent staff and works with more than 175 artisans, contributing to the economic development of both urban and rural communities.
The product range includes scarves, towels, and interior textiles, all made from natural materials such as silk and cotton, which are sourced locally.
The company places a strong emphasis on ethical production processes and environmentally friendly practices. A unique aspect of Sabahar is its use of hand-spun silk, produced by Ethiopian farmers, which reduces reliance on imported raw materials.
By creating sustainable employment, Sabahar plays an important role in improving the living conditions of local communities.
