About Cards from Africa
Cards from Africa is a social enterprise in Kigali, Rwanda, that offers young adults a new perspective. Many of the makers lost one or both parents at a young age due to illness or violence. Others grew up in vulnerable circumstances and are given the opportunity here to build an independent life. Through creativity, training, and fair wages, they transform their story from one of uncertainty into one of hope and growth.
How the products are made
Each card is made entirely by hand from 100% recycled paper. Office waste from the surrounding area is processed into paper pulp, dyed with natural dyes, and transformed into sturdy, colorful sheets. The makers then cut and paste every detail with care and precision. No two designs are the same, and that is precisely what makes every card unique.
Social impact
Cards from Africa offers young people work, education, and stability during a phase in which opportunities are scarce. They learn valuable skills, earn a fair income, and build up savings to be able to study or start their own business. The organization operates according to fair trade principles, with a focus on well-being, equality, and future prospects.
Environmental impact
By reusing paper waste and using natural dyes, Cards from Africa prevents tons of paper from being burned or sent to landfills. The entire production takes place locally in Rwanda, keeping transport and CO₂ emissions to a minimum. Additionally, the cards are made in small batches, which prevents waste.

If you order before 4:00 PM, your order will be shipped the same day and you will receive it the next day.
An additional delivery time of 2–3 working days applies to CHAKO products.

Not satisfied or received a damaged item? You will receive a replacement product or a refund free of charge.
You can return items within 30 days (undamaged). Personalized products are excluded.
